A message for Mums: Fitting your teenage daughter
Bringing your daughter in for a bra fitting can be an opportunity to support her as she develops in her teenage years. Girls have told us that they appreciate the way our fitters help them find the right bra but don’t overcrowd them. We know there is a fine balance of being friendly but giving space.

Often it can be helpful if your daughter has looked at our website beforehand so that she knows what our bras are like. She may find it encouraging to see that there are going to be options in store that are not ‘granny bras’!
We have a large range of sizes. Starting at a size 6 in the body means that a petite body-fit is going to be okay, just as fuller cup sizes can also be accommodated.
The Fitting Room also stocks a large range of bra styles, both with wire and without. Often teenage girls wish to wear a bra with some moulding – a contoured t-shirt style bra. We have great options in this style of bra to choose from. There are also sports bras and strapless bras which are commonly needed by this age group.
As we move towards the summer school terms, a practical bra for under a white school shirt is a must. The school holidays are a great time to come in for a fitting, when life feels a little less ‘rushed’. Pop into Room 205, (the café two doors down from our Fendalton Road store), or into The Colombo (across the road from our Colombo Street store), and grab some lunch or a caffeine fix while you’re at it.
Finally, we’d love to say congratulations to the Mums who are their daughters’ cheerleaders! Those who come into the shop and compliment their daughters on their changing bodies and the way they are developing and growing.
